Strategic View:
Brookfield and Qatar’s state-led AI company Qai have partnered on a $20 billion AI infrastructure project. A “Mega-Sovereign” club to build a regional compute hub.
Full Story:
The Middle East is pivoting from oil to compute. Brookfield, the global asset manager, and Qai, Qatar’s national AI champion, have announced a $20 billion partnership. The goal: to create an integrated high-performance computing (HPC) center in Qatar.
This “Club” combines Brookfield’s renewable energy and real estate expertise with Qatar’s sovereign capital and cheap energy. The project aims to democratize access to AI compute for the entire MENA region, reducing reliance on US-based clouds.
Why It Matters:
“AI Nationalism.” Sovereign states are forming clubs with global managers to build domestic AI capability. This is the largest infrastructure trend of 2026.
